Jorge Vaz Gones

Lived in Guarda until the age of 18, at which moment he joined an Environmental Engineering course at the New University of Lisbon. Later he studied Public Policies at ISCTE, and in 2006 he studied Directing at ETIC in Lisbon, and later Photography at ar.co school of arts. He was connected to Produções Fictícias for many years, where he directed television and advertising programs, and was part of the team that founded Canal Q, where he worked as a director, screenwriter and actor. He created, directed and starred in the weekly sections “Special Envoy” and “Repórter Mudo”, in addition to being part of the cast of the fiction series created by Nuno Markl, ShowMarkl and Rádio Calipso. As an actor he also participated in the fiction series for RTP 1 “Madre Paula”, in the films “Parque Mayer” by António-Pedro Vasconcelos and “Linhas Tortas” by Rita Nunes, and in the fiction series “3 Mulheres” where he played the character Ary dos Santos. Recently he featured in the film “Amadeo” by Vicente Alves do Ó. He directed the short films “Sobre a mesa”, 2010; “O Quarteirão”, 2015; “Jean-Claude”, 2016, (special mention by the IndieLisboa jury); and “mapa-esquisito” 2018, (IndieLisboa Short Film Competition 2018, Best Portuguese film prize at the Cinenova festival, and nomination for best national short film CineEuphoria Awards). He is currently finishing his first feature film, “Soldado Nobre”, about his great-grandfather who fought in the Great War.
